It was a scorching summer afternoon. The sun blazed overhead, and the earth radiated heat. As our team at Home for Voiceless Foundation was making a routine round near one of our shelters, we noticed something unusual — under a bush, a small squirrel lay collapsed, barely breathing.
Its delicate body was warm and motionless, eyes half-closed, completely exhausted from the relentless heat.
Without wasting a second, our team gently picked up the squirrel, wrapped it in a soft cloth, and rushed it to a shaded area. Using a dropper, we tried offering cool water, but the poor creature was semi-conscious. So, we gently sprinkled droplets of water on its tiny frame and placed it under a fan to help regulate its body temperature.
We waited, hoping for a sign of life.
After nearly an hour, it gave a faint twitch. Slowly, it lifted its head and blinked — it was responding! Our team carefully tried feeding it a few drops of milk, and to our joy, it soon began sipping on its own.
Within 2–3 hours, the squirrel had regained much of its energy. However, we noticed it was struggling to move — likely due to an injury sustained while it was lying helplessly in the open. We observed and supported it as it tried to regain movement.
Then came a beautiful moment — the little warrior pulled itself up, limped to the window ledge, and with a final glance, leapt back into the trees where it belonged.
Since that day, our team always keeps bowls of water and food in shaded spots — a small act that can mean survival for a tiny soul.
At Home for Voiceless Foundation, every life matters. No creature is too small to save.
